Lucy climbed the highest mountain in every state, except Alaska, during these years. She set a world record as the youngest female to accomplish this feat on July 22, 2016, at the age of 12.

Lucy attempted to summit her 50th state highpoint and set the world record as the youngest female to climb all 50 at the age of 13. After being on the mountain for 20 days, Lucy and her team had to descend without the opportunity to climb above high camp at 17,200 feet due to prolonged, life-threatening weather. The team raised over $20,000 for Outdoors Empowered Network on this climb to help give other youth outdoor adventure opportunities.

At 21,000 feet on her first summit attempt, Lucy experienced altitude symptoms which required her to descend until feeling better. Unfortunately, she was unable to attempt the summit again due to a week-long high wind and snow storm. Lucy looks forward to returning one day to stand on the top of the Western Hemisphere’s highest mountain.

After 24 hours of travel and an 8 hour time difference, Lucy and her father arrived at Mount Elbrus with ideal climbing conditions. A strenuous, yet straight-forward climb, Lucy stood on the top of Europe and her second Seven Summits peak.

CLIMB DATES: Mountain closed due to fires
Lucy traveled in Australia for two weeks in January 2020 waiting to climb Mount Kosciusko, but never had the chance to even get close to the mountain. During those two weeks, Australia was experiencing the worst fires in their recorded history and Mount Kosciusko was in the heart of it. “I never imagined fire would be a reason for not reaching the summit of a mountain, but the more time I spend in the outdoors, I am reminded that weather has the ultimate say.”

On Father’s Day, Lucy and her father, Rodney, stood on the top of North America to complete their 50th state highpoint together. It was the culmination of 10 years of learning, exploring, and growing in the mountains together. The expedition started with nine climbers, but ended with only Lucy and Rodney making it to the top. This expedition completed Lucy’s goal, set 10 years ago at the age of 7, to be the youngest female to climb all 50 of the US state highpoints.
